Goldsdown Road, EN3

Place Name

Agricultural heritage. This was originally a field name on land that lay to the north of Green Street. It was first mentioned in an auctioneer’s catalogue of 1775 as Lower Watry Lane and by 1806 as Watery Lane, evidence of poor drainage on this marshy ground. It acquired its present name by 1894.
