Place Name
Previously called Fox Lane. It is named, like a number of roads around here after Claude Lyon-Bowes (July 16, 1824 – February 16, 1904), 13th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, who also bore the title of Lord Glamis. He owned a large tract of land around Shadwell and the Isle of Dogs. He is the great-grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II, on her mother’s side.
