Garlands Lane, HA1

Place Name

Originally known as Rifle Range Lane as it led to the shooting gallery. Garlands opened at the junction of Peterborough Road in 1864 as a boarding house – or small house – for boys attending Harrow School, these usually held around 15 boys. This mid-victorian property, designed by CF Hayward. Garlands no longer belongs to the school and was converted into flats in 1987.
