Place Name

Commemorating John Fox, who in 1836 founded a brewery on the site of a former malthouse in Green Street Green High Street, opposite Laxey Road. At its peak it employed 110 people but it closed in July 1909. During the First World War, the building was used as a barracks after which it remained vacant and was finally knocked down in 1937 to make way for a factory and later a housing estate.
