Name likely comes from Epping Forest which this street overlooks. A ditch opposite the houses was a boundary of Wallwood, once owned by Stratford Langthorne Abbey and cleared of trees about 1700. The street was first occupied between 1901 and 1907. Number 7 used to be the Vicarage for St Andrew’s Church.
