Fenemore Road, CR8

Place Name

One of seven streets named after “Kenley’s Few” RAF officers stationed at the nearby airfield who lost their lives during the Battle of Britain during World War Two. Named after Stanley Allen Fenemore (April 25, 1920 – October 15, 1940). The Liverpudlian, who was just 20, when he was shot down and killed while intercepting a Messerschmitt over the town of Redhill, in Surrey. The street sign – like all seven – has the rare distinction of a brief history of his life.
