Place Name
Named after a large property on Barnes Terrace, which had previously been known as Albion House. It was knocked down sometime between 1904 and 1906 to make way for Elm Bank Mansions, the road having been built some years earlier in 1896. The property had been home to, among others, the 18thCentury portrait painter and architect, John Astley and James Hedgman, merchant and philanthropist.
