Commemorating Sergeant Thomas Frank Durrant (October 17, 1918 – March 28, 1942), of Green Street Green, who was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross. Thomas died of his injuries when he took part in the raid, codenamed Operation Chariot, on the St Nazaire in 1942. His award is unique in that it is the only one given to a soldier in a naval action and it was on the recommendation of the enemy commander.
