Place Name
This is a corruption of Dunstan’s Court as recorded in 1677. In 1746 it was written as Dunsters Court and Dunster Court by the end of the 18thCentury. The temptation is to assume that it is connected with the nearby St Dunstan-in-the-East church, as it lays within the parish but Sheila Fairfield in The Streets of London is unconvinced. “The derivation is obscure, the court appears to have no connection with St Dunstan’s church and the name probably refers to a proprietor or tradesman.”
