Place Name

Salisbury Court, the London home of the bishops of Salisbury once stood here. Following the dissolution of the monasteries it was passed to Thomas Sackville (1536 – April 19, 1608), the 1st Earl of Dorset, hence the name which was first mentioned in 1720. It was previously called Dorset Street.
