Place Names
The road leading to Coval Lodge, Temple Sheen, which stood from around 1855 until it was demolished in 1933. From at least 1875, it was the home of a Thomas Charles Mills and his family. This was build in 1910, Coval Gardens, where the house stood was not completed until 1935. A coval is another name for a blacksmith but whether the house replaced one is uncertain. By 1911 the property was put up for auction by Fairbrother, Ellis, Egerton, Breach, Galsworthy and Co. Describing it as a “delightfully secluded freehold property known as Coval Lodge, Temple Sheen Road, comprising of an old fashioned family residence, stabling, cottages,, cow house, pleasure grounds, orchard and kitchen garden, altogether about 2 1/2 acres.”
