Coombe End, KT2

Place Name

A reference to the local area of Coombe, which comes from the Old English word cumbe meaning a broad valley. It was first mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Cumbe and by 1260 as Cumbe Nevill after the de Nevill family who were lords of the manor. An end generally denotes the outer reaches of the local parish although that is unlikely to be the case here.
