Place Name
This road takes its name from a former occupant of a temperance house that was built within the forest to provide non-alcoholic refreshments for visitors. Butlers Retreat, a mid-19thCentury barn run by John Butler, who had previously been serving teas near the then newly created Connaught Water, in 1891. Today it is a Grade II listed building.
