Broadhurst Close, TW10

Place Name

The land on which this street was built was given to the Vestry, a prototype parish council, by George III, who owned farmland in Richmond. That in turn was passed to Richmond Parish Lands Charity who sold it to developers for the Queens Road Estate development. The work was carried out in three phases. The third part for 100 or so units on the central site of around 5.7 acres, was started in the later 1980s and developed in part by Fairbriar Homes Ltd. They suggested the name of their associates, Broadhurst Ltd. Historic England write: “Blocks developed by Fairbriar Homes are a late 1980s interpretation of the symmetrical mid-C19 villa, with raised entrances beneath set-back porches.”
