Bracondale Road, SE2

Place Name

Named after the village of Bracondale, in Norwich, where Carrow Abbey a former Benedictine priory was founded sometime around 1146. It later became a private house, owned for a time by the Colman family of mustard fame. Like many of the streets in the area it is named after a former religious house in a reference to the nearby Lesnes Abbey from which the area’s name, Abbey Wood, is derived.
