Boundary Close, IG3

PLACE NAME

The name is literal, as it marks the traditional boundary between Ilford and Barking, Loxford Water forming the natural division. Up until the 19thCentury, Ilford formed part of the ancient Parish of Barking but following local government reorganisation, parts of it were joined with the Municipal Borough of Wanstead and Woodford and parts of the Municipal Borough of Dagenham and Chigwell Urban District to form the newly created London Borough of Redbridge. This street was laid out on a former sewage works which later became a depot, before that it had been part of the Loxford Hall estate.
