Place Name
This was already an early road or footpath before the road was properly developed. It was originally called Billet Lane as it led to the Crooked Billet Inn, which was at a crossroads. It changed to Billet Road in 1821. The pub was pulled down sometime in the 1980s to make way for the A406 road through Walthamstow and Chingford, there is a roundabout named after the pub called Crooked Billet roundabout.
