Beechwood Avenue, TW9

Place Name

This was previously part of the Leyborne Popham family’s North Sheen estate. In 1905 Richmond Council approved a plan to build 30 houses in Beechwood Avenue, which may have been named after Number 51, which was originally called Beechwood House. There had previously been a small woodland area nearby running by the railway line and a large orchard on the other side of Mortlake Road.
