Agricultural heritage. Evelyn Pritchard in their Guide to the Street Names of Ham and Petersham writes: “There was a large farm stretching up from the Richmond-Kingston Road almost to the Park, with a farmhouse in what is now Ham Farm Road, called Ham or Church Farm. These streets [Barnfield Avenue is adjacent] were built on what had been the barn field.”
