Place Name
- Named after local landowner Riley Thomas Ingersoll (February 25, 1819 – 1896) who was living at Enfield Highway in 1867. Ingersoll came from a landowning family connected with the candle manufacturing. He outlived both his wives Amelia Augusta who died in 1868 and Emily who died in 1895. The road was laid out in 1873.
