Laid out over land that had formerly been used as a long-standing plant nursery, which was knocked down to make way for purpose-built flats constructed between 1991 and 1995. This was one of several nurseries that opened in the area in the late 18th and 19th centuries to cater to the aristocratic fashion of gardening. Nurseries often specialised in trees that were essential for gentlemen’s parks.
