Cedar Court, SW19

Place Name

Developed in 1968 this roads was named after a house of the same name that was on the site (which had earlier called Oakfield). It was no doubt named after a tree growing in the grounds. According to Neal Ransome, in Wimbledon Village: A History Told Through Its Street Names, the house had, for many years, been used as an English language school by an international Catholic organisation, the Teresian Association, which in 1962 moved to Kingston-upon-Thames.
