Agricultural heritage. This street was laid out on the East Field, a literal description since it was to the east of North Fields of what was once the village of Wandsworth. The street was only laid out at the end of the 20thCentury as part of residential redevelopment of the former industrial area on the western bank of the Wandle as it joins the River Thames. Much of this was marshland.
