Place Name
Laid out in 1971 on the site of the West Kensington Coal and Goods Depot. According to Street Names of Fulham and Hammersmith it takes its name from the Ais Gill also spelt Aisgill viaduct or the signal box at the summit of the railway line between Settle and Carlisle in Cumbria. It is not uncommon to find streets laid out on former railway land named after notable railway features.
