Dr William Ward Darley (died 1976) was the long-standing GP who practised at 334 Wickham Road, Shirley, Croydon. After his time as a Royal Naval Reserve during World War Two he formed a partnership with Dr Orlaff Elgin Finch and Dr William David Glyn James to run a General Medical Practitioners at South Norwood and Croydon under the name Finch, Darley, James. When the partnership ended on December 31, 1950 the three men continued practising independently. He died shortly before the road was built and named.
