Captain Edward George Spencer Churchill (May 21, 1876 – June 24, 1964), was a first cousin of Sir Winston Churchill, and lord of the manor of the Northwick estate after inheriting it from his grandmother, the widow of the 3rd Lord Northwick, in 1912. Lord Northwick had no direct heirs when he died in 1887. At the time Spencer-Churchill and the trustees decided to sell off the estates surrounding farmland for development. Work however was slow going and did not take off until the 1920s. By this time he had attained the rank of Captain in 1899 in the Grenadier Guards and had fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1901. He was back in action during the First World War during which time he was wounded twice. He was awarded the French medal of h Croix de Guerre with palms, a French honour for those performing heroic deeds in combat and were subsequently recognised by headquarters. In 1924 he was made High Sheriff of Worcestershire. He died unmarried.
