Place Name
Named after one Matthew Featherstone who leased Upper Moorfields, which is now Finsbury Square, and Bunhill Fields Burial Ground. In 1732 he laid out and built Featherstone Street on a piece of land from the dissenters’ burying ground and lived in a house there until 1755. In the 16thCentury the area was fields making up the grounds of Finsbury Manor.
