Place Name
Named after the Lincolnshire town that was the birthplace of brothers John and Charles Wesley, it has given its name to many institutions associated with Methodism. Their father, Samuel Wesley, was the rector from 1695 to 1735. Just around the corner in City Road is the chapel John founded in 1777, and next door, the house where he lived and died on March 2, 1791.
