Place Name
Named after John Hillman who served on Metropolitan Borough Council of Hackney from before 1912. He was chairman of the Hackney Survey and Valuation Committee and laid the foundation stone of the Dalston branch library. It was named in 1937, at the time that the new Hackney Town Hall was opened.
