Place Name
Previously called Pratt’s Lane and before that Cobb’s Lane, but renamed Glyn Road in 1881. It was laid out on land belonging to the Glyn family. It came into their possession following the marriage of Susanna Lewin to Richard Glyn, later lord mayor of London, a baronet, and co-founder of the bank of Glyn, Mills & Co. Glyn added to the estate in 1769 when he bought more land at Homerton from the heirs of the Marlowe family.
