Place Name
Named after Levi Parsons Merriam, an American investor in The British Xylonite Company, later BX Plastics, established by English inventor Daniel Spill in 1877. In 1897 the company which made, among other things table tennis balls, expanded to Hale End, on a factory close to this site.
