Place Name
Named in memory of rifleman Raymond Tritton Storer who was killed in action at the 2nd Battle of Ypres in 1915. He was the founder and first scoutmaster of the 1st Welling Scout Troop but when the First World War broke out, he volunteered to join the 1/5th (City of London) Battalion (Rifles) on August 31, 1914. He was killed, aged 21, during the 2nd Battle of Ypres in 1915 and is remembered on the famous Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres, Belgium. The road was named in his honour after representations from the East Wickham and Welling War Memorial Trust when new developments were built.
