Alluding to the area’s aeronautic heritage, the Armstrong Whitworth AW.15 Atalanta was a 1930s British airliner designed for Imperial Airways in the 1930s, when it was based at Croydon Airport. The four-engine airliner was for use on its African lines in particular for the service between Kisumu in Kenya and Cape Town, South Africa. It took its maiden commercial flight in September 1932, between Croydon to Brussels and Cologne.
