Place Name
One of a cluster of streets that were built between 1990 and 2001 by the Waltham Forest Housing Action Trust on the site of Oliver Close council estate named after trees. The others include Magnolia Close, Larch Road and Robinia Crescent. Osier Way and Palm Close are adjacent. Walnut itself derives from Old English wealhhnutu, literally foreign nut (from wealh, foreign and hnutu, nut) because it was introduced from Gaul and Italy.
