Agnes Tattersall, was the oldest child of 24 siblings of John and Margery Chichele, who had inherited the manors of Easthorne, Well Hall and other estates around Woolwich in the early 15thCentury. On their marriage her husband John Tattersall became lord of the manor. When he died in 1446, Agnes married Sir William Kene, who was Sheriff of Kent under Henry VI. Well Hall manor later passed to Agnes’s youngest daughter by her first marriage Margery who married a John Roper of Swacliffe. It is one of a cluster of street names connected with the manor.
