Place Name
Alluding to the village in Mitcham. Not named after the bird but in fact meaning Ralph’s manor. The name first emerged sometime around 1220 before mutating into Rasebery in 1377. In 1473 it was closer to the modern name spelt Ravenesbury, then after another century, chroniclers hedged their bets writing it as Ravisbury al. Ravensbury sometime around 1580.
