Place Name
Named after the stream which got its name from an early 14thCentury family of landholders who were mentioned in local records. William Pymme was a landowner in Edmonton, whose family had been granted land by Edward II. The stream itself had previously been called Medeseye, meaning meadow marsh-stream from the Old English words mæd and sæge which ultimately meant a slow-moving meadow stream, from around 1200.
