Place Name
Samuel Beachcroft (note the spelling) (July 27, 1801 – November 10, 1861) was the architect for the rebuilding and enlarging of Mortlake Church (St Mary the Virgin) when he extended the south aisle and the nave in 1840, work which was later considered to be unsatisfactory, and needed further changes, by William Blomfield, in 1885 and 1906. Beachcroft had premises in Broad Street and Cadogan Square. In July 1840 he married Elizabeth Acworth Ommanney, daughter of Sir Francis Ommanney, the former MP for Barnstaple. The couple had six children. The Beachcroft family are said to have long associations with the area.
