Place Name
Early spellings of the local area have it as Hallinges in 1200 suggesting this may be the Healla’s village or Heall’s people but John Field in Place-Names of Greater London says it could also mean a “slope by a hall”. In either case the local area of Haling Park, saw the second part added much later. A D Mills in London Place Names suggests it might also be a manorial name from the de Halling family coming from Kent.
