Place Name
It has nothing to do with the city of Cambridge as the original 1275 spelling shows Camprichtheheth which is thought to be from the personal name of a former Anglo-Saxon landholder named Cantbeorht, and hæth, meaning heath. By the 16thCentury the name had been corrupted in records to its present name.
