Directional. Named after the nearby area of Beddington in Sutton, which means “the farm or estate connected with Bëada”. It was first mentioned as Bedintone in AD675 and featured in an Anglo-Saxon charter sometime between AD901 – 8 as Beddintone, later becoming the more recognisable Bedington in 1229.
