Place Name
Takes its name from James Anthony Berther, who was the the site foreman of the Emerson Park Estate, which was developed around 1895 by William Carter. Several other streets in the locality were named after some of Carter’s family and senior staff. The road was officially named in 1903 along with Parkestone Avenue,Herbert Road, Carter Road, Curtis Road Isabel Road, and Ernest Road.
