With Springfield Community Park running beside this road, you may think that explains the street’s name. But in fact, the street is much older than the park. It features on the Ordnance Survey map of 1893, whereas the park wasn’t created until 2000. To understand the background of the name you have look at the parallel road that was named at the same time, Palace Road. Both are a reference to Alexandra Park and Palace, a short distance away. No doubt the developer used the names to cash in on these attractions.
