Place Name
A rather grand name, this road leads to Alexandra Park and Alexandra Palace, which was built on a ridge on the site of Tottenham Wood and the later Tottenham Wood Farm. Alexandra Palace was never a royal residence, but was initially to be called The Palace of the People or the People’s Palace. It was renamed after Queen Alexandra of Denmark (December 1, 1844 – November 20, 1925), who was the very popular Princess of Wales at the time of opening. There were never any gates at the park.
