Place Name
Laid out over the estate of Apperfield Court, which was broken up and developed at the start of the 20thCentury. The name comes from the Old English words apuldor and feld, the literally apple field. The orchard giving the manor its title which was first recorded as Apelrefeld in 1242, becoming Appeldorefeld in 1253, and Apeldurfeud in 1270. In 1819 it took the form of Apperfield.
