Cirrus Close, SM6

Place Name

This street is named after the Cirrus series of  light aircraft engines, which were first introduced in 1925, using spare Renault parts by the Aircraft Disposal Company (ADC). The Cirrus I was the first air-cooled inline engine. The street like all the others on the Roundshaw Estate is built on the site of the former Croydon Airport. All the roads are named after famous aviators and aircraft.
