Place Name
This does not commemorate the untimely death of some unfortunate monarch in Ruislip, as the name might imply. It was in fact named after a local man called le Kyng who held land here in the late 13thCentury, local records mention him in 1296. Kingsend Farm and the hamlet of Kingsend were here until after the First World War when this road was laid out over agricultural land and the hamlet and farm developed and folded into the wider town. By sheer coincidence land around here was later owned by King’s College, Cambridge.
