Descriptive name. An avenue is usually a wide and attractive streets bordered by trees. Gillian Bebbington in London Street Names concurs: “A good description of this road, which was a broad tree-lined boulevard.” Properties on the road, which runs south to approach Regent’s Park, were being advertised in The Times in March 1826.
