Dr George Jordan Maguire (July 29, 1870 – July 22, 1941) of Fulwood, Kew Gardens, was a freeman of the borough, a magistrate for 16 years, sat on Richmond Corporation for 34 years, and was mayor in 1916. He ran a medical practice in partnership with Gerald Eade Bellamy. The road was named in 1949.
