Place Name
The original Grove Road was far longer but was split into two during Phase II of the development of the Queens Road estate by the Richmond Parish Lands Charity which created Lower Grove Road. It is thought to have been named after Grove Lodge “a large house in Queens Road, replaced first by the Marist Convent (bombed during the war) and then by St Edward the Confessor School”. The road was first shown on the 1834 Hume and Smith map for sewers but not named.
